The USIOT (United States Informatics Olympiad Team) selects participants to represent the USA in the IIOT (International Informatics Olympiad in Teams). There are three to four online qualifying rounds each year, followed by an in-person national finals in Fairfield, CT. Teams consist of up to four pre-college students, with two additional reserves if needed. To be eligible, team members must not turn 20 before July 1st of the year of the international finals. Only one team member can be in USACO Platinum or have previously competed at the IIOT finals as part of Team USA. Detailed team rules are outlined in the USIOT Official Rules. The USIOT also has an official discord server, which is linked here.
Competition Format:
Participants can use C, C++, or Pascal. Each competition lasts three hours and includes solving 7 to 9 problems. The international competition lasts four hours and has the same number of problems. On the day of the competition, a banner with the link to start will be posted at 11:00 AM EST(8:00 AM PST) on this website. Once you begin, a personal three-hour countdown starts, and your test will automatically submit the next day at 2:00 PM EST(11:00 AM PST) or when the time runs out. You can practice using past IIOT problems, which are accessible through links on the membership portal and at the bottom of this page. During the contest, you will have two computers. Both must be named according to your team name and the computer number, for example, "Bananas #1" and "Bananas #2."
Results will be posted on the USIOT website within a week of each competition, and after the third round, a list of teams invited to the national finals will be announced. The top 8 to 14 teams (depending on participation numbers after the first qualification round) will qualify for the finals, where they will compete to become Team USA for that current competition season and IIOT international finals.
Good luck!
